Could investigation point to owner?

Local school’s groundskeeper killed by three pitbulls, police investigate case of culpable homicide.

The Germiston City News recently reported on the attack and death of a 45-year-old Laerskool Oosterkruin groundskeeper.

The man was viciously attacked and killed by three pitbulls, while standing on the pavement in Wert Road.

The man and one of the three pitbulls died on scene while the other two pitbulls, reported to have both been female, were seized by the Germiston SPCA.

It has since been reported that the Primrose police, who opened an inquest into the incident on Saturday, are now investigating a case of culpable homicide.

When asked if this meant the owner of the pitbulls, who was allegedly not home at the time of the incident, could be charged with what had happened Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police said, “At this stage I cannot say weather or not the owner will be charged.

“The investigation will determine what course we will take.”

The GCN was unable to reach the Germiston SPCA for comment on what has happened to the two remaining dogs.

More details to follow as they become available.
