Campaign aimed at squashing market for stolen goods

Police Minister Nathi Nhleko called on South Africans to strive to create a decent society.

Police minister Nathi Nhleko has launched a campaign to raise awareness about the growing market for stolen goods in the country.

The campaign, which was launched in Mpumalanga on Wednesday, aims to discourage communities from encouraging these types of crimes by buying the stolen goods.

Nhleko called on South Africans to strive to create a “decent society” and committed himself to assisting the youth and unemployed people to be productive instead of turning to crime.

The minister went on to say his department has already identified problem areas.

“We need to do some work in terms of what else needs to be done.

It is everybody’s responsibility,” Nhleko concluded.
