Woman behind bars for dealing dagga

Woman arrested for dagga possession in Mandela area.

While on a crime prevention and visibility foot patrol of the Mandela area members of the Katlehong Peace Corps, as well as EMPD officers arrested a woman.

The 32-year-old was found in possession of dagga and rock, she was arrested and illegal substances were seized by officers.

The incident took place just after midday on Wednesday, November 19, after officers stopped and searched a youth smoking dagga, at the corner of Stanley and Tshabalala roads in the Mandela section.

“The cooperative youngster in exchange for amnesty, and following a tongue lashing, pointed out the house where he bought the dagga from,” explained Insp Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD.

“More back-up was called and officers visited the house that had been identified by the youngster.

“It was there that officers discovered the woman, who was busy packing dagga and rock in the kitchen.

“She was arrested.

“EMPD officers recovered four, 5kg plastic bags full of dagga and two small packs of rock to the estimated street value of R20 000.”

The trader is facing a charge of possession of illegal substancse and dealing in dagga.

The suspect was taken to the Katlehong North Police Station and will appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
