Men nabbed for possession of suspected stolen property

Early morning walkabout leads to men's arrest.

While they were out on an early morning patrol in the Germiston CBD, on Tuesday, members of the Germiston SAPS, spotted two suspicious men.

At about 4.20am, the officers noticed the men, carrying a bed, walking in Church Street, near the corner of Victoria Street.

They stopped the men, who could not give a reasonable reason for walking about with a bed so early in the morning.

“The officers then searched the suspects and found more goods stacked on top of the bed.

“On the bed were a bolt cutter, a crowbar, a mini hi-fi and computers,” said WO André de Jager, spokesman for the Germiston SAPS.

“The suspects, aged 19 and 20, were arrested by Consts Noko Ramagoshi and Sipho Masango and detained at the Germiston Police Station, on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

“The shift commander, Lieut Col Eric Khosa, congratulated the two members for good police work and their commitment to fight against crime.”
