Man arrested for common robbery and assault

Suspect assaults man and then steals R1 000 from him.

Primrose police recently arrested a 40-year-old man on a charge of common robbery and assault.

The arrest was made after the victim opened a formal case at the Primrose Police Station.

The man explained that he had been walking in Mignonette Road, in Primrose, when a red vehicle appeared next to him.

The vehicle stopped and a man got out and began to hit the victim, without any provocation.

The man attempted to escape his attacker but was caught and the accused continued to attack him.

The victim told police that his attacker made sure he would not be able to get up.

The man then searched the victim’s pockets and was able to find R1 000.

The victim claims he remembers nothing else until he regained his wits sometime after the attack.

Using the victim’s description of the accused officers were able to trace him, and he was arrested.

During his time in the holding cells at the Primrose Police Station it was discovered that he wanted by the Diepkloof SAPS in connection with a crime that took place over a decade ago.

The man appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.

“Once his case has been handled in the Germiston Magistrates Court we will hand the suspect over to the Diepkloof SAPS,” explained the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
