Student leaders given food for thought.

The Germiston Rotary Club was pleased to host its annual Prefects Evening, on Thursday.

The event hosts prefects, student leaders, teachers and principals from schools in Germiston, and aims to motivate the young leaders for the year ahead.

Primrose High School, Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston, Assumption Convent School, Germiston High School, Hoërskool Vryburger High, St Catherine’s School, Dawnview High School and Hoërskool Goudrif were represented at the event.

A student from each of the attending schools was given the opportunity to speak about their school, and tell everyone why they felt their school is so amazing.

Adéle Thomas was the guest speaker at the event and delivered a thought-provoking presentation that had not only the prefects thinking.

Acting president of the Germiston Rotary Club, Angus Stephen, concluded the function with good wishes for the students’ year ahead.

“I am impressed with the calibre of the 2014 prefects, student leaders and representatives,” he said.

“You, young leaders, are the future of our country and have the ability to make the country great.

“The Germiston Rotary Club wishes you well for your year ahead.”
