Long wait over for Broken fans

Local businesswoman's book to hit the shelves soon.

Germiston businesswoman and Florida Hills resident Carlyle Labuschagne’s second novel in the Broken series, Evanescent, will be available in e-book and paperback in mid-November, 2013.

The young mom’s debut novel, The Broken Destiny, introduced readers to Ava and the other inhabitants of the planet Poseidon.

The science fiction/fantasy tale targeted young readers, but, to Carlyle’s delight, attracted fans from all age groups who enjoy this increasingly popular genre.

Published by Sensational Publications, Evanescent continues Ava’s journey of self-discovery.

The Broken Destiny created an international following in the dystopian, science fiction genre.

Picking up from the first novel, Carlyle has incorporated, in Evanescent, a handful of dark elements that highlight the internal struggles of the saga’s heroine – a battle that comes down to a choice between individuality and conformation.

“Evanescent – such a beautiful word: fading or disappearing out of sight, memory or existence.

“This, the second instalment in Carlyle Labuschagne’s The Broken Series, is everything you expected and looked forward to reading,” commented editor Sandra Valente, of SSBookFanatics.com, in her review.

“Carlyle has upped the ante, the action, the suspense, the love – which, against all odds, is binding – and the overall intensity.

“Words and passages are written with such feeling, it’s beyond gripping.

“Evanescent was all I expected, and more.

“I’m not only [still] a believer, she’s surpassed my expectations.”

The book is one of the most highly anticipated 2013 releases from indie authors on review sites such as GoodRead.com, a testament to the following Carlyle has enjoyed since the release of her debut novel, in 2012.

Carlyle is passionate about helping to create a generation of avid readers.

Married to Dirk and mom to Ethan (9) and Jordan (6), the Germiston businesswoman is a social media die-hard and likes to connect with fans via her website and other social media platforms.

The e-book will be released on November 16, on major online sites such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kalahari.

The paperback version will hit the shelves shortly afterwards.

A taste of Evanescent:

“Within my blood runs a thing our kind calls the Shadowing Disease.

“It shadows over, and bends everything to its will.

“When the first blood-shift came, it tore through flesh and blood, threatening to bend me, break bone, shatter my mind and entrap my heart with its honeyed, seductive poison.

“It came with vicious intent, moving my thoughts and altering me forever.

“The shift has caused a rift within me.

“No one was safe when it entrapped me in its claws of foul lust.

“But I have the only antidote against the evil that becomes me – his touch alone has the power to release the spurs of sweet darkness that cling on for dear life.

“I knew what I had to do; the desperation pulled my mind with the deep determination of a hungry predator.

“By the time the revelation raised me from the dark dungeon of my bounds – it might have been too late.”
