Search yields positive results at Germiston school

Bedfordview SAPS said they have been experiencing a challenge with learners selling drugs to other learners at the school premises.

In a bid to promote a safer and drug-free learning environment, the Bedfordview SAPS conducted a search at Sizwe Secondary School on May 16.

The local police were accompanied by EMPD K9, the Department of Education, the Department of Community Safety and the newly formed Crime Prevention Wardens (CPWs).

Learners were searched at Sizwe Secondary School.

Sergeant Lillian Modiga, corporate communications officer at Bedfordview SAPS, said they have been experiencing a challenge with learners selling drugs to other learners at the school premises.

About 10 classes were searched and they confiscated the following items: dagga, dangerous weapons, cigarettes, cards (gambling), and rizlas.

For learners who were found with illegal stuff, disciplinary action will be taken against them.
