As part of the school’s sports holiday programme, the Germiston Local Football Association will be hosting LFA and the Musa Nyatama Foundation.

Nigel LFA and Benoni North LFA hosted some of the previous editions.

Twelve teams will be looking at dethroning Supersport United Soccer School players crowned champions last year after defeating Kathorus High 1–0.

“This year’s tournament will see the Transnet School of Excellence and Wits University, participating as Wits Juniors FC.

“The organisers have brought innovative ways of trying to bring the best out of the players by introducing ‘man of the match’ awards at the end of each match,” said Macebo Pako, a media official.

“At the end of the tournament individual awards will also be awarded for the top goalscorer, goalkeeper of the tournament and player of the tournament,” Macebo said.

“Through this tournament, players will also have an opportunity of being scouted by the PSL academy teams like TS Galaxy and Supersport United FCs.”

Tebogo Sithole, Germiston LFA spokesperson, said they are proud to host a tournament of this magnitude.

They are pleased that teams affiliated with Germiston will get an opportunity to participate as well.

“We urge the community to support their children as these games will keep our children busy during the upcoming school holidays.

“We would also like to appeal to local teams to join our Germiston LFA to access such initiatives,” said Tebogo Sithole speaking on behalf of the association.

Entry is free and games start at 09:00. No glass bottles and dangerous weapons are allowed.
