Elandsfontein shop robbed by criminals in school uniforms

“They took cash of approximately R3 000, airtime vouchers, cigarettes and groceries. When they saw members of the community approaching they fled."

A store in Elandsfontein was targeted by robbers wearing school uniforms on September 14.

Bedfordview SAPS communications officer Sergeant Lillian Modiga said the shop’s cashier was behind the counter when about 20 people in school uniform entered the shop at 14:30.

“The complainant stated he was behind the counter when they entered. He tried to stop so many people from entering the shop at one time and was allegedly hit on the head with a bottle and stabbed in his left arm,” said Modiga.

“They took cash of approximately R3 000, airtime vouchers, cigarettes and groceries. When they saw members of the community approaching they fled,” said Modiga.
