Ekurhuleni 2022 Basketball league ends

"In the end, the Edenvale Lions won gold, Vosloorus Royal Russells won silver and Germiston City Wolves came third.”

Germiston City Basketball Club celebrated the conclusion of the 2022 Ekurhuleni Basketball U19 League.

The club took the initiative to run and host the league in January this year.

Coach Motheo Pule assumed a leadership role to manage the club and it was his debut season as a head coach.

Munashe Chakuta become his assistant coach. Coach Seaparo Ramaube and Pontsho Leepo became league administrators.

“Boitumelo Mogapi, Sihle Ngwenya, Samukelisiwe Dlamini, Usher Matinyadze, Tshiamo Mogapi, Diego Mashabela and Lazard Kabuya, Simphiwe Dlodlo came on board as technical officials and drove the programme to its successful conclusion,” Ramaube said.

The league ended with the playoffs at Kempton Park Indoor Basketball Courts.

“Only the top eight teams were invited.

“They were Edenvale Lions, Germiston City Wolves, Soweto Rising Owls, Spartans, Norkem Park High School,

“Vosloorus Royal Russels, Kwa Thema Wolves and Alexander Cavs. In the end, the Edenvale Lions won gold, Vosloorus Royal Russells won silver and Germiston City Wolves came third.”

Coach Edson Makavan of the Edenvale Lions was also crowned coach of the year.
