Delville Bowling Club, in association with Family Protection Association South Africa, recently hosted a fundraiser fun day at the club’s premises.

The event was well supported with bowlers from as far as Avion Park Bowling Club in Kempton Park attending.

The Family Protection Association SA is an NPC that was founded by a group of professionals specialising in the care, support, and intervention services related to victims of GBV, family, and child abuse and neglect.

Natasha Dixon, managing director, said it is the NPC’s aim to support the vulnerable in their time of need.

“Our team is passionate about victims of family abuse of any kind. Statistics of abuse and violence in families show a shocking number of incidents but what they never show is how many of the victims are saved,” said Dixon.

“Fees and costs are associated with access to justice at every stage of the legal process,” she said.

“Such expenses constitute a major barrier for those who cannot afford them.

“That’s when we realised how many victims were stuck in their environment only because of a lack of financial resources,” said Dixon.

Cherise Griffen, Family Protection Association SA ambassador, played a pivotal role in organising the event.

“Our focus is to protect those who can’t protect themselves regardless of age, race or financial situation. We believe that every small step is a step in the right direction,” said Griffen.

Director Natascha Bester said they offer mediation, negotiations and support services.

“The organisation is a pillar of hope standing tall on behalf of the vulnerable and exploited offering them strength, support and compassion in their time of need,” said Bester.
