The event was held on June 15.

“Youth Month is about recognising the struggles of the youth of 1976 and celebrating the impact they brought in the liberation of our country,” said Hazel Moagi, hospital operational manager.

“It is also about shining a light on current issues the youth of today are facing.”

“The take-home message is that they need to report GBV before they become statistics of femicide, not forgetting that men are also victims of abuse.

“We are encouraging people to report rape, if possible, within 72 hours.

“Young people are experiencing all these social ills and most of them don’t even know where to go for help or what to do. These awareness campaigns are vital,” said Moagi.

Two learners from Makause informal settlement also received uniforms.
