“Light A Sparke was born out of the passion for helping others. A few years ago my daughter started interning at Baragwanath and she would tell me about how premies need beanies to keep warm or blankets are needed for the elderly who have no families. So the need and demands for these handmade items grew,” said Janene.

Some of the donations from residents for the KZN flood victims.

She said she believes in the ethos of paying it forward. Light the Spark has been growing and benefitting several people in need.

“There are so many people out there that want to do good deeds, but don’t know where to start or what to do.

“Light A Sparke has been a sense of healing for many.
“Some of our ladies are battling cancer, some have lost loved ones, some are lonely and need a purpose in life and this is what we can give them,” said Janene.

She said because of the work they do, and the people they work with, when they requested donations for the KZN flood victims the community responded with love.
“We are so touched by the response from the community. We have been receiving so much from people.

“We are grateful for the response and deeply touched and we are happy that we can help families in need in KZN.

“As Light the Sparke we aim to assist organisations and charities in need, through our ambassador network. Making a difference, one Sparke at a time,” said Janene.
