It is no secret that the local economy has taken a knock in the past two years due to Covid-19 and electricity interruptions.

In the hopes of reviving the economy, the forum aims to build relationships among the business people of Germiston. It promotes buying local.

A WhatsApp group, as well as a Facebook page, have been established as means of communication and sharing of ideas.

“We aim to empower people and encourage shopping local. We are also writing an App that will facilitate the process of bringing the business to the community,” said Heidi Searle, chairperson of the forum.

“The app will also have the ‘employ me’ button where business operators can navigate freely to find someone to employ.

“We are inviting all business people to join our initiative and to inspire more businesses to invest in our area. We need to grow our local economy,” said Searle.
