Bedfordview students excel at No-Gi

No-Gi Jiu Jitsu is a combative sport that is gaining in popularity worldwide.

SBG Bedfordview students recently competed in the Submission Kings Queens and Kids No-Gi submission competition.

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is a combative sport that is gaining in popularity worldwide.

This sport focuses on clinch, takedown and ground fighting to obtain a submission through the use of submission holds such a chokeholds, strangles, shoulder locks, wrist locks, arm bars, straight ankle locks.

SBG Bedfordview competed against some of the top clubs in attendance including East Rand Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Valhalla MMA & BJJ, Gracie Barra, QuanWessels Academy, Apex Sport, 1610 and more.

Seen here are SBG Bedfordview students Kallinicos Frangoudis (bronze medallist), Reece Jory (gold medallist) and Dale Clarke (bronze medallist).

Three SBG Bedfordview students were awarded medals.

Reece Jory was awarded a gold medal while Dale Clarke and Kallinicos Frangoudis each walked away with a bronze medal.

SBG Bedfordview’s head coach Sergio De Freitas hopes to develop a competitive squad that will be competing in the various upcoming No-Gi and Gi Jiu-Jitsu tournaments.
