The club recorded only two losses last year in the Germiston Local Football Association (GLFA) u-17’s league. They lead the log on 43 points.

With only three league games left at the time of the GCN’s interview, the team’s coach was confident that they will finish the season as the champions,

“We are the champions as the gap in points between us and the second-placed team is too wide for them to catch up.

“There are three games left, and outcomes of those games won’t change anything as we sit with an 18 points cushion. We are waiting for the GLFA chairperson to give us a directive on the way forward,” said coach and chairperson Lucky Muthelo.

The club was initially founded in 2012. Muthelo adds that when the club started they had aimed to develop and produce fresh talent from the streets and combat drug abuse and crime.

“The team today boasts platers of great talent, most of them have started with the team and they never left. There was so much undirected talent wandering the streets of Germiston, and we just became role models in so many ways. We are more than just a football club but an organisation that works towards building a united community.

“We have four divisions that include the u-17’s and the u-23’s. We aim to field a women’s division.”

The chairperson commended the level of discipline the players have displayed since day one, lauding them for not tolerating bullying, smoking and drinking.

In commemoration of their 10th year, the club will be hosting their fourth annual soccer tournament later in 2022 with great prizes to be won.

“The details of the tournament will be finalised and published soon, Thank you to the Mark Fish Foundation, Go Local Projects and our main sponsors for believing in us through it all. 2021 was not an easy one and sure 2022 will offer some challenges.”

To close 2021, Liverpool hosted its year-end function where they awarded players based on their excellence and distributed school shoes to the community of Ramaphosa.
