Fifteen-year prison sentence for armed robber

Local windscreen washers who had witnessed the incident managed to make a citizen’s arrest before calling the police and handing Mamaila over for detainment.

The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court recently found Martin Lebogang Mamaila (45) guilty of armed robbery.
He was sentenced to an effective 15 years’ imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
Mamaila committed an armed robbery at the intersection of Albertina Sisulu and Marcia roads in Kensington.
He stopped his victim at the red traffic light, held them at gunpoint and took their cellphone.

The case was handed to Det Const Mashele from Cleveland Police Station for investigation.
