Bhodla encourages women to share their stories to find healing

Bhodla is a platform for women of all ages to come together and share their everyday challenges and advise one another.

Ekurhuleni resident and reality show star Phume Khethang from Pastors’ Wives launched her women’s conference, Bhodla Let’s Talk, on May 8 in Edenvale.

Phume said Bhodla is a platform for women of all ages to come together and share their everyday challenges and advise one another.

“As women, we carry so much, but we remain quiet not knowing we’re not the only one going through that situation. We are afraid to share or ask for help because we fear being judged,” said Phume.

The platform is aimed at creating a safe space to share and receive support and help. “I want women to find healing, guidance and solutions,” said Phume.

She said Bhodla was inspired by her own life experiences and how she survived these challenges.

“I lost my son, and his death was sudden. I thought I could never breathe or live again, but I survived it. My experiences have made me the person I am. I want to give women hope and let them know it’s okay to say you’re not okay,” said Phume.

Dr Nosisa Matsiliza addressed the women about health and wellness, including skin cancer and infertility, and Khanyisa Mothema spoke on blended families. Matsiliza said infertility is a challenge for many women due to the pressure society puts on them.

“There are many options for infertility, but it’s not the only one. Sometimes science cannot achieve the goals we want, but that does not make a woman lesser. Being a mother does not mean you have to give birth to the child. You can be a mother to children who need mothers,” said Matsiliza. “I plan to host Bhodla in different provinces,” said Phume.
