Man charged with murder after couple dies from fire
"He was found hiding under a bridge on Rondebult," said Elsburg SAPS spokesperson Daphey Phooko.
A 45-year-old man was arrested for murder after a fire resulted in the death of a couple on March 1.
The man was arrested on April 16.

“He was found hiding under a bridge on Rondebult,” said Elsburg SAPS spokesperson Daphey Phooko. “On the day of the couple’s death, at about 7.15pm, the crime-prevention unit attended to a scene in Rondebult Extension Two where a man and woman sustained serious injuries from a fire inside their room. “It is alleged the suspect started the fire while the couple was sleeping. A case of arson was opened,” said Phooko.
The victims were admitted to ICU and later died as a result of their injuries.
