SAPS focuses on second-hand goods operation

Forty-seven officials from Rapid Rail Police, EMPD, Transnet and SAPS from nearby stations attended the operation.

Members of Gauteng South and North West Rapid Rail Police together with other role-players conducted a second-hand goods operation around the Germiston police precinct under station commander Brig Nkhensani Lemba on December 8.

According to Const Maxwell Mabunda, communications officer for Germiston SAPS, 47 officials from Rapid Rail Police, EMPD, Transnet and SAPS from nearby police stations attended the operation.

“We had a parade at the Germiston Civic Centre where officers were divided into two groups. One group focused on sector one and another group on sector two.

“We visited 18 second-hand goods properties. One scrapyard was closed and four others were issued J534 documents.”

Mabunda said one suspect was arrested for tampering with essential infrastructure.

The officers urged residents to report all crimes.
