WATCH: A day of entertainment, soccer and self-defence
The Mark Fish Foundation, in partnership with GoLOCAL, ran a full-day programme packed with soccer matches and self-defence training for children.

The Mark Fish Foundation, in partnership with GoLOCAL, ran a full-day programme packed with soccer matches and self-defence training for children.
Community members enjoyed a mixed boys’ soccer match between Liverpool Development FC (LDFC) and Khumalo FC.
The teams squared off on the field, with Mark Fish as the referee. The score ended 2-2.
LDFC coach Lucky Muthelo said the match was great as both teams employed an attacking style of play.
“It was a satisfactory match from my side.”
Khumalo FC coach Banoyolo Nompawle said he was also satisfied with the match.
Young and older females faced off in a friendly game of soccer as well.
The local soccer teams also received soccer balls from Mark Fish.

Gary and his daughter, Melissa Lewis, from Never Tap Out Africa held lessons on how children can defend themselves.
“To curb gender-based violence children need to learn from a young age that men and women must show mutual respect towards each other. These children are our future, we need to instil discipline and understanding for a brighter tomorrow,” said the self-defense instructor.
All the children who participated received Christmas hampers, sports bags, T-shirts and a certificate signed by Mark Fish for the attendance of the full-day programme.
Aluwani Muthelo was one of the recipients.
“They taught us how to protect ourselves, which is great.”
