Five men arrested for possession of drugs

Five men were arrested when they were found in possession of a variety of narcotics in Germiston and Primrose areas on November 17.

Five men were arrested when they were found in possession of a variety of narcotics in Germiston and Primrose areas on November 17.

Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD spokesperson, said the men were found in possession of crystal meth, Mandrax, rock, nyaope and dagga.

“EMPD and the Drug Enforcement Unit members arrested the suspected drug dealers during an anti-drug operation.”

Mokheseng said the first man was arrested at 8.30am on Malgaan Road in Germiston. Officers found 38 Mandrax tablets, 16 ziplocks of crystal meth, 13 rock substance, one portable digital scale, 20 sealed syringes, 11 glass tubes, five knotted plastic bags of nyaope and 33 paper-wrapped dagga packets. The drugs were worth about R8 800. The man was also in possession of cash.

The remaining four men were arrested between 9.20am and 10.45am in Primrose.

Mokheseng said the four were cornered on Johann Rissik Road, Primrose, by the EMPD Anti-Drug Squad.

“They were apprehended for the possession of two ziplock bags of rock, 19 knotted plastic bags of nyaope and 26 ziplock bags of dagga, all valued at R2 080 and cash.

“They will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Mokheseng.
