Make a difference in the life of a child

Shane Ebersey wants to help children’s home.

“This year has been a whole lot different to any of my past 23 years, and it’s really caught my attention that most of us are in a position to live happily and comfortably under such circumstances.”

These are the words of Shane Ebersey, who grew up in the vicinity of Epworth Children’s Village.

“This is the time in life when we need our families more than ever and it breaks my heart to know that there are children out there without families,” he said.

“Which brings my concern to Epworth Children’s Village, a family on its own and a home for any child without one.

“Epworth is in its 101st year of existence and it has been building families all along.”

Shane said in the seven years he spent at Colin Mann Primary School, he grew up with a lot of friends of all races who came from Epworth.

“Being very young at the time I could never understand their situation and I didn’t know what it felt like to be in their shoes.

“Today, I sit here wishing I could’ve done something for all my friends during that time and I wish I could find those friends today to give them a warm hug and tell them how strong they really are.

“They fought for a life that was not worth fighting for in their eyes and they were given a chance by Epworth to make something of their lives and to fulfil their dreams, just like we got that chance,” he said.

“I am forever grateful that I could go home every day after school and kiss my parents hello and sleep in the same house with my family at night.

“I’m in a position today to make a change and help those children live a better life, and I call on everyone who can to get on board with me.

“Let’s help the less fortunate and share love from ourselves as it’s what they deserve.”

Shane, with the team from Resolute Capital Advisory, who will be assisting him on the day of the donation handover and helping to make the initiative come true, have set a target to reach for donations.

“If we reach our target we will be able to get every necessity the children’s home needs to survive during this time.

“We encourage the community to assist us with donations or anything they think may be helpful to the home,” Shane said.

“I would never have met those special friends of mine and shared a class with them if it wasn’t for Epworth, and I want to thank everyone involved for using their lives to make others fruitful and giving.

“I applaud you all.”
