Neighbour alerts mother to alleged rape

Primrose police arrest alleged rapist in Primrose.

A 30-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police on a charge of rape.

The arrest was made after the mother of the victim reported the alleged incident to police.

“The complainant told officers she had been told about the incident by a woman who lives in her neighbourhood,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“The complainant’s minor daughter confirmed the incident.

“She told her mother the suspect allegedly threatened her with a knife, while her parents were out shopping, and told her not to scream.

“He reportedly told her to undress and then allegedly raped her.”

The suspect allegedly threatened to kill the victim if she told anyone about the incident.

Police were able to trace and arrest the suspect.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for a bail application.
