Joy as Hoërskool Goudrif lifts trophy for 15th time

Support and cheers for young athletes.

The atmosphere was alive with shouts of support and cheering as Germiston schools battled it out in the annual Germiston inter-high event recently.

This year the event was hosted by Hoërskool Goudrif and young athletes pulled out all the stops to excel and earn glory for themselves and points for their schools.

There can, however, only be one winner and for the 15th time Hoërskool Goudrif lifted the prestigious trophy.

The school achieved 949 points.

They were followed by Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston with 806 points in second place and Germiston High School with 542 points in third.

Schools which participated in the event were Hoërskool Goudrif, Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston, Germiston High School, Hoërskool Primrose High School, Hoërskool Elspark, Hoërskool Elsburg and Hoërskool Vryburger High School.

Hoërskool Goudrif has 37 athletes who have been chosen to compete at Greater Germiston on Wednesday (today).

The following Hoërskool Goudrif learners performed extremely well scoring more than 750 points of the Absa table: Riley Erasmus, Bennie Loots, Nhlakaniphi Ngwenya, Lwazi Francisco, Ruan Potgieter, Johan Meyer, Elliot Asieng and Nakita Els.

Although no records were broken on the day, all the athletes did well in their disciplines.

Johan Greyling, principal of Hoërskool Goudrif, said, “I am grateful for the win and I thank all the parties who made inter-high possible.”
