Heavenly Flowers’ Grade One learners received a special gift to help them remember their first day of ‘big school’.

“We wanted to make sure they remembered their first day of ‘big school’ as it is a big step in their lives,” said school principal Leonard Nel.

“So we asked each of our learners’ parents to write a special letter to them on their first day of school and had them placed on beautifully decorated wooden boards.

“Though we always do something special for our Grade Ones, this was the first year we got our children’s parents involved.”

The children were presented with the gifts individually, last Monday.

Teachers Anisa Mohamed and Nicole Knoop took turns reading out the special letters before giving the children their boards.

The children were full of smiles and giggles as they looked over their letters and showed them to their friends.

“Today was all about making our children feel special,” said Nel.
