Council fills vacant positions to ensure continuity

First council meeting sees positions filled.

The Ekurhuleni council opened its doors at the Germiston Council Chamber on Thursday for its first sitting of the year.

Following the vacancies created by some councillors joining the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, as well as the National Assembly, the metro’s council had to fill them in order to ensure continuity in its structures.

Newly elected Clr Francis Mnguni was sworn in at the Ekurhuleni council meeting at the Germiston Council Chamber on Thursday.

Council congratulated Clr Romeo Mokone, who was elected as the new chairperson of the oversight committee over the mayor and legislature (OCMOL), replacing Clr Sizakele Masuku, who was elected chairperson of municipal public accounts committee (MPAC).

Additionally, Clr Francis Mnguni has been sworn in, replacing alderman Neil Diamond, who resigned last year.

Council wishes the newly elected leaders well as they set out to perform their responsibilities with integrity and dedication.
