Children taught about safety

The Germiston police visited Galway Primary School as part of their back-to-school campaign.

Safety in schools is a priority for the Germiston police.

A team from the station visited Galway Primary School in Germiston South and joined their assembly last Monday morning to teach the children more about safety and crime.

During the visit, Capt Thomas Nkosi spoke to the children about personal safety and sexual offences.

He urged children to report crimes of any kind to the nearest police station.

During the interactive presentation, Const Reggie Ramokolo spoke to the children about keeping secrets and encouraged them to not hold onto issues but to rather share what they are going through.

Safety awareness colouring-in books were also handed out during the presentation.

The visit also gave the team a chance to introduce the Adopt-a-Cop initiative and Sector Three commander Const Jane Ramakgoshi announced that Col Eric Xhosa would be looking after the school for the year.

He will ensure that the learners behave and that they are kept safe.

Learners at Galway Primary School receive colouring-in books during an interactive presentation by the Germiston police last Monday.
