Communications officer has a great love for the police force

The GCN got to know the communications officer for the Germiston Flying Squad.

Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo, the communications officer for the Germiston Flying Squad, loves the police force.

She has spent a decade on the force and told the GCN that she does not see herself ever being anywhere else.

Ngcobo started her career at the KwaThema Police Station before moving to Ratanda (near Heidelberg) as the communications officer.

She moved to the Germiston Flying Squad in 2015 and in 2017 took up the position of communications officer.

“I always wanted to serve the community,” Ngcobo said.

“I originally wanted to be a doctor but I was not accepted.

“I was accepted to study radiography but unfortunately I couldn’t afford the fees.”

She decided she would see if she could join the SAPS as her career would still involve serving the community.

“I fell in love with the SAPS. I love my police,” she said.

She added that she loves the action and adrenaline rush of being on the front line helping people.

Ngcobo is furthering her studies and is in her second year of an LLB degree which she is studying through the University of South Africa (Unisa).

“It is challenging to balance family, work and studying but I am getting there,” she said.

When she qualifies, she intends staying with the police force.

Ngcobo is mom to Lethokuhle (9) and when she is not at work she enjoys spending time with her daughter, her family and her friends.

“Every time I leave the house I ask God to protect me and ask Him to share His wisdom with me so that I can do the right thing to help serve the community,” Ngcobo said.
