Here is what you need to know when calling 10111

Follow the operator’s instructions and give all relevant details.

When calling the SAPS emergency number 10111 (flying squad), it is important to have all the relevant information ready to give to the operator.

When you call 10111 have the following information available:

• Your telephone number.

• Your physical address or if you are not at home, the nearest corner of a street or landmark.

• Your name and surname.

• Full details of the complaint.

• You will receive a reference number via SMS and your complaint will be attended to.

• If it is a life-threatening situation and if at all possible it is advised to leave the line open and not hang up, but make sure the criminals do not find you with the phone, rather put it to one side.
