Get ready for vernacular comedy at its best

Carnival City will host Rock your Mother Tongue – The Reunion this February.

Rock your Mother Tongue Comedy is back for an exuberant reunion, this time at Carnival City.

The 2020 edition, Rock your Mother Tongue – The Reunion, promises to be bigger and better than ever before as some of the biggest names in vernacular comedy unite on stage with Mashabela Galane, who celebrates a decade of stand-up comedy this year.

In the line-up at the Big Top Arena on February 28 are Salesman, Sammy Fever, Peter Mashata, Tumi Stopnonsons and many more.

Rock Your Mother Tongue Comedy is a long-standing, proudly South African brand and has been associated with the trailblazers of vernacular comedy.

Peter Mashata will be performing in Rock your Mother Tongue – The Reunion at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena on February 28.

The show is synonymous with the ever-changing South African urban culture influenced by a myriad factors, such as politics, socio-economic factors and fast-growing integration into the global scenes.

The brand of comedy showcased fuses the different South African cultures.

“Vernacular comedians are not as recognised as the mainstream guys,” said Mashabela.

“We have to work harder to get the recognition, but vernacular comedy is growing and people who come to the shows are extremely loyal and show a huge amount of love and appreciation.”

Carnival City’s marketing manager, Michelle Smith, said, “We are thrilled that Rock Your Mother Tongue Comedy will be making its way to our stage in February.

“Carnival City is a proud supporter of South African performing artists and comedians.”

The show will start at 8pm.
