Police raise awareness in Marathon and Delport

Primrose police, together with various stakeholders, visited the Marathon and Delport informal settlements to raise awareness about several issues in the area.

Community members of the Marathon and Delport informal settlements were invited to attend a recent community awareness event hosted by the Primrose police and various stakeholders.

The event aimed to address a number of issues in the area, including the scourge of gender-based violence.

Ward 93 councillor Jeff Mthembu, councillor France Ngomane, Primrose Sector One CPF chairperson Bradley Adams, Primrose SAPS station commander Col Albertina Vesi and her management team were among the speakers at the event.

Vesi urged the community not to neglect their children, to stop abusing alcohol and help the police fight crime in their area.

“During the awareness campaign residents were educated about the operations and duties of various departments at their disposal,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

In closing, Mthembu wished the residents a safe and happy festive season and further encouraged them to report any suspicious or criminal activities to the police.
