Patrolling EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) members arrested three male suspects allegedly found in possession of narcotics in the Marathon informal settlement, between 8am and 10am, on Monday.
“The three suspicious-looking fellows, aged between 19 and 29 and flanked by shacks, were approached and body searched by the officers,” said Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“The officers discovered 17 knotted plastic bags of nyaope, nine pieces of rock and one loose bag, 16 ziplock bags and 77 paper-wrapped parcels of dagga, worth R5 500, and R350 in cash, which they confiscated.”
The arrested suspects, who are facing charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances, were taken to the Germiston Police Station and they are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
