Passion and dedication rewarded for Griezel sisters

Abigail and Miandi Griezel are a force to be reckoned with in SAaerialnastix.

The Griezel sisters from Albemarle are growing from strength to strength in the sport of SAaerialnastix.

The GCN told the story of their achievements last year and this year they have excelled once again.

Abigail (9) competed in six competitions this year, including regionals and SAaerialnastix SAs.

Overall she received 14 gold, two silver and one bronze medal.

At the SAs, she achieved two gold medals for floor and bench, and one bronze medal for mini trampoline.

Her younger sister, Miandi (7), also competed in six competitions, including regionals and SAaerialnastix SAs.

Abigail has also been invited to be a part of the South African team travelling to Mauritius in February, next year, for the SA Tumbling and Trampoline Cup.

“This is a great honour and privilege and she is obviously very excited,” said the girls’ mother, Melissa.

“This will be her first trip overseas and of course we have to take her little sister along even though she is not competing herself.”

The girls remain dedicated and work very hard.

They practise up to four times a week.

“They still love what they do and we support them all way,” said Melissa.

“Their little brother, Rylan (4), will be joining them shortly and he is very excited.”
