Calling all cyclists, mountain bike enthusiasts and trail runners

The event raises funds for charity.

Germiston Rotary Club and Germiston Wheelers Cycle Club invite you to join them at Carnival City for the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic annual cycle, mountain bike and trail run events taking place on October 26 and 27.

There is an event and distance to cater for your needs, ranging from a 60km and 34km MTB race, as well as a 6km to 12km MTB event for the children.

The children’s event takes place on the Saturday from 7am (start time).

The road cycle race takes place on the Sunday from 6am, and is perfectly placed on the calendar as a warm-up ride for the Discovery 947 Ride Joburg event three weeks later.

Distances of 110km and 58km on a relatively flat course means it is possible to ride the full distance without walking.

Also on the Sunday, from 7am, the third edition of the trail run, with distances of 5km, 10km and 21km takes place.

The 5km event is pet friendly, so your furry friend is welcome too.

Online entries are open, and can be accessed by visiting the website www.germistonclassic.co.za/enter-now/.

More information about the event can be obtained from the same website, by clicking on the more information links.

The main purpose of the event is to raise money for local charities, particularly in support of Rotary projects, the Rotary Foundation and the further development of amateur cycling in South Africa.

Through this event the organisers have been able make significant donations to many very needy charities, particularly in Ekurhuleni.
