Germiston Flying Squad members recover, seize seven vehicles

Germiston Flying Squad members had a successful day on Wednesday.

Members of the Germiston Flying Squad got more than bargained for on Wednesday when they recovered not one but three hijacked motor vehicles, two stolen motor vehicles and seized another two vehicles for SAPS inquiry.

The vehicles where reportedly hijacked in Elsburg, Eden Park and Mpumalanga.

The first vehicle, a white H100, was recovered by Sgt Johnny Moloto with the assistance of a vehicle tracking company.

It was recovered in Tsietsi in Katlehong.

The second vehicle, a white Isuzu bakkie, was recovered by Const Luyanda Mkhonkothi.

The vehicle was found deserted in Dorking Avenue in Dinwiddie.

The bakkie had been hijacked in Elsburg.

The third vehicle, a white Toyota Yaris, was seized by Moloto due to the fact that it was wanted for an SAPS inquiry.

“The fourth vehicle was seized by Const Skobane Lebina in Masakhane Street, Katlehong because the VIN had been tampered with,” said Const Ntombikayise Ngcobo, the communications officer for the Germiston Flying Squad.

“The fifth vehicle, a blue Mazda 323 stolen in Silverton, was found abandoned in Mahoadisa Street, Vosloorus, Extension 18, by Sgt Thamsanqa Mtlaping.

A gold Toyota Fortuner was the sixth vehicle found.

It was found abandoned in Rietfontein Road, Primrose, and it was discovered that it had been hijacked in Vosman, Mpumalanga.

The seventh vehicle, a red Sandero, was stolen in Boksburg Central and found abandoned in Moshoeshoe, Katlehong by Moloto with assistance from a vehicle tracking company.

“The recovered vehicles were taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep Pound in Benoni where further investigations will be conducted.

“We urge community members to stay alert at all times and be aware of their surroundings.

“They must report any suspicious or criminal activity to the nearest police station or call 10111,” said Ngcobo.
