The annual event saw 163 entrants from the Raptors, Brakpan, Benoni, Boksburg, Elsburg, Alberton and Battleground wrestling clubs taking part.

The tournament also offered the competing wrestlers a chance to impress and possibly be selected for the Kwavaluma Regional League, the South African Youth Championships and the Noordvaal League taking place later this year.

“We were very excited to host the event,” said Dewald de Wet, the head coach at the club.

“Our young wrestlers were thrilled to compete against wrestlers from other clubs in Eastern Gauteng.

“One of the standout performances of the day was from Daniella de Wet.

“She won three gold medals.”

Seventeen wrestlers from the club took part in 28 different divisions.

The team won 14 gold medals, six silver medals and six bronze medals in total.
