Three arrested in drug bust by EMPD officers.

Intelligence gathered by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), an independent directorate within the SAPS responsible for combatting serious organised and commercial crime, provided information to the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) about a batch of narcotics destined for distribution in the Germiston area by three individuals.

Armed with the description of the suspects who would be transporting the drugs, on Friday, the EMPD DEU members placed the identified suspects under surveillance for a period of over three hours, monitoring their movements.

The surveillance commenced at 9am and at about 12.16pm the three suspects, using an Uber taxi, were cornered at the intersection of Robyn and Knox Streets in the Germiston CBD.
