Burst Rand Water supply line leaves several Germiston suburbs dry

Rand Water technicians are working to repair a burst water supply pipe, and restore water to several Germiston suburbs.

Several Germiston suburbs have been left without water today (Saturday).

The cause of the outage, according to Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan, is a burst Rand Water supply pipe.

“The areas supplied by this line include Sunnyridge, Sunnyrock, Solheim, Fishers’ Hill, Dawnview, Symhurst, Wanneburg, Gerdview, Homestead, Rustavia, Elandsfotein, Klopperpark and parts of Primrose,” said Morgan.

Rand Water technicians are reportedly working to repair the pipe and restore water to the affected areas.

“Roving water tankers can be found at the Sunnyridge circle, but due to the small number of tankers available they will have to go and refill regularly,” said Morgan.

Updates will follow when more information becomes available.
