Hard loss for Elsburg in Vanderbijlpark
Elsburg Rugby Club and Vanderbijl Rugby Club endured a physically taxing game in the latest Kestrel League fixture.
Elsburg Rugby Club travelled to Vanderbijlpark to face Vanderbijl Rugby Club on Saturday.
This was a crucial game as it precedes the knock-out stages in the Kestrel League.
The match proved to be a fitness and endurance test for both teams from kick-off right until the last seconds of the second half.
Within the first few minutes of the game, Boeries Venter was the first to score a try for Elsburg with a successful conversion by Rudie Wessels.

Soon after, the home team had a chance to score a try with a successful conversion.
With both teams up on the scoreboard, the challenge continued.
Vanderbijl received a penalty against the visiting team and managed to add three points to the scoreboard.
They further increased their lead with a try and a successful conversion.
This saw Vanderbijl take a 10-point lead against Elsburg.
The half-time score was Vanderbijl 17, Elsburg 7.
Elsburg returned to the pitch with high momentum, set to make a great comeback from the disappointing first half.

They were awarded a penalty, adding another three points to the scoreboard, which helped them regain confidence in the match.
Although those were their only three points of the second half, due to a tight defence from the home team, Elsburg ensured Vanderbijl were not able to score any more points.
The full-time score was Vanderbijl 17, Elsburg 10.
