Making Mandela Day special

Life Roseacres Hospital staff members make Mandela Day special for Sasonah Lodge residents and staff.

A team from Life Roseacres Hospital visited the residents and staff of Sasonah Lodge on Thursday to make their Mandela Day special.

This was the second year the team visited the Lambton-based Sasonah Lodge, which opened its doors in May 2004.

The centre cares for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer and frail care patients, and offers around-the-clock nursing care, as well as home-based care.

“Sasonah Lodge is a home away from home, where we try our utmost to eliminate the clinical type of environment and allow our patients to do as they would do in their own homes,” explained manager Melanie Nunn.

During their visit, the team took time checking Sasonah Lodge staff members’ blood pressure and blood glucose.

Karen Landsberg, marketing coordinator for Life Roseacres Hospital, explained why the team felt it was important to spoil the home’s staff members.

“They spend their time caring for others so we think it is important that someone spoils and cares for them,” said Karen.
