Katlehong couple arrested allegedly in possession of R22 000 worth of drugs

The EMPD swooped on a house in Katlehong, seizing drugs and arresting two people.

A couple from Katlehong suspected of dealing in narcotics were arrested last Tuesday at 2.16pm.

They were arrested after a plastic bag containing blocks of Kat was allegedly discovered in their house.

The estimated street value of the Kat was R22 000.

“When the house situated in Mbasane Street in Hlongwane Section was searched by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) members, they came across a transparent plastic bag containing seven blocks of Kat.

“In addition, cash amounting to R480 was also confiscated as it was believed to be proceeds from illicit dealings,” said Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

The 26-year-old woman and 27-year-old man were detained at the Katlehong Police Station on charges of possession of and dealing in drugs.

They were expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
