Simmer score 13 tries in away match

Germiston Simmer Rugby Club travelled to Ennerdale to face the Ennerdale Rugby Club in the second round of the Senior Grand Challenge.

Germiston Simmer Rugby Club celebrated back-to-back Senior Grand Challenge victories after beating the Ennerdale Rugby Club, last Saturday.

After a home win against Soweto Eagles Rugby Club the team was determined to keep up the momentum when they travelled to Ennerdale.

Simmer settled into their game plan soon after the first whistle, scoring four tries within the first 10 minutes of the fast-paced clash.

The team’s determination, speed and skill were on clear display throughout the first half and when the half-time whistle blew they were 25 points clear of their opponents, with a score of 32-7.

After some encouraging words from their coach Simmer was ready for the second half.

The half started with another try for the club as captain Danny Westenberg broke through the Ennerdale resistance.

Ennerdale were unable to put another point on the scoreboard losing to Simmer 87-7.

The visiting team scored an impressive 13 tries and 11 conversions throughout the match.

Tries were scored by Westenberg, Ben Gabi, Loukie Koekemoer, Franco Kotze and Jaco Meyer.

While the man of the match award went to Owen Mupfumisi and Westenberg.
