An unstoppable Elsburg climb Kestrel League log

Elsburg Rugby Club sought to continue their winning streak in the Kestrel League when they faced Delmas Rugby Club.

Elsburg Rugby Club welcomed a gutsy Delmas Rugby Club to their turf, the Elspark Sports Complex, in the second round of the Kestrel League last Saturday.

The clash was the second time the clubs played against each other this season.

Within the first 10 minutes of the game, Elsburg set the tone of the game when Danie du Preez inched in a try.

The team’s fly half, Rudie Wessels, followed up with a successful conversion.

Although the visitors challenged Elsburg to a physical game, they struggled to convert their speed and tackles into points on the scoreboard.

Jonathan Wolmorans broke through Delmas’s defence and scored a try.

Wessels kicked another successful conversion.

Boeries Venter scored his first try just after the 30th minute, and there was another successful conversion by Wessels.

With a few minutes left on the clock before the half-time whistle, Elsburg’s full back, Marinus van Vuuren, ran in a try and Wessels kicked his fourth successful conversion of the game to lead the half-time score to 28-0 in favour of Elsburg.

A dominant Elsburg team continued to edge itself closer to the Delmas try line in the second half.

Their efforts paid off well when Emile Etsebeth scored a try with a successful conversion by Wessels.

Delmas managed to get their first points on the scoreboard when they managed to score a try, which was led by a successful conversion.

Delmas Rugby Club (blue) and Elsburg Rugby Club played a physically demanding game in their second clash of the Kestrel League last Saturday at the Elspark Sports Complex.

This did not deter Elsburg’s plans to win the game, as Venter dashed across the pitch and scored his second try for the match with a conversion by Wessels.

Venter returned to the try line, for his hat trick, leading the final score to Elsburg 47, Delmas 7.
