Dads and daughters spend quality time together

Local school hosts special dad-daughter day filled with lots of fun.

Assumption Convent School in Germiston hosted a Dads and Daughters Day last Saturday.

The objective of the day was to enhance the relationship between each of the fathers and their daughters.

It was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The day began with fun and team building.

The dads and their girls were divided into teams and each dad-daughter pair had to select a game to participate in.

The indoor games included a father-daughter quiz, and the outdoor games ranged from hula-hoop competitions and water balloon throwing to three-legged races.

There was much laughter, excitement and plenty of inter-team banter.

The dads and daughters were then split up and each given a talk.

The fathers were addressed by Christo te Brake, who stressed the importance of the role of the father in his daughter’s life and he shared some ideas and experiences of what it takes to be a good dad in the challenging society globally and in the country today.

The daughters were given a talk by Stacey Hopebailie on respect and given some practical ideas of how to show love in everyday life.

After the talks, the dads and daughters had private dialogues with each other and then were led in a special prayer and were reminded about how important praying together is to improve their bonds.

The day was rounded off with prego rolls and socialising.

All who attended the event felt that it was an extremely useful day and that they grew in their dad-daughter relationship.
