Community fun at Majestic Night Market

Lambton residents head out for a thrilling night at the market.

The inaugural Majestic Night Market hosted at the Majestic Garden Centre got off to a splendid start last Friday, as patrons gathered to let their hair loose and enjoy a fun night out.

Other than getting the community together, the market served as a fund-raiser for the Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF (LKCPF).

Locals such as Nzunza Mahlangu popped by the market to get a few necessities for his pet snake, Red.

Jordan Engelbrecht used the market as an opportunity to spend time with Loki, a bearded dragon living at SaveMe Reptile Rescue Centre, sponsored by his family.

Nzunza Mahlangu and his father Jafta marvelled over snakes at the inaugural Majestic Night Market last Friday night at the Majestic Garden Centre.

ā€œWe want to bring back the culture of letting loose on Fridays, by creating a space where there is all types of fun available for the entire family,ā€ said Ilonka Nel, founder of SaveMe Reptile Rescue Centre , and one of the market organisers.

The market promised entertainment for the entire family and lived up to the expectation.

There was a childrenā€™s zone with an array of games to be played, and various treats such as milkshakes and pancakes.

ā€œWe endeavour to be different from other markets and to achieve this we listen to what the market goers hope to see at our markets.

ā€œWe want to cater for everyone in the community, it is tough, but fun work.ā€

Lindsay Antonill and her bearded dragon, Geriatrix, enjoyed a fun evening at the first Majestic Night Market held at the Majestic Garden Centre last Friday.

Homemakers picked up lovely footstools and cushions at Olive Branch Designsā€™ stall. Jan and Lizzelle Homann prepared fresh pancakes while Renier van Straaten kept a jolly ambiance with soothing old school hits, from country music to R&B classics.

ā€œWe are pleased to have seen so many community members and CPF come out to support us. The success of this inaugural market has set the tone for the next market,ā€ said Ilonka.

Ilonka and her team are set to host day and night markets monthly.

Details of the next market will be communicated as they are made available.
