R60 000 worth of dagga seized in Primrose

EMPD arrest two, confiscate dagga.

EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit members responded to a tip-off about a pair suspected of dealing in dagga in Primrose, last Monday.

The tip-off proved accurate when dagga stuffed in jars and a 9.9kg bag laden with dagga was uncovered at the given address.

Two male suspects were arrested.

“Upon the officers’ arrival at a house in Turnhout Avenue, the metro police met the pair about to drive out of the yard in a BMW sedan,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“Ten jars filled with dagga, a tray also full of dagga and a 9.9kg bag of dagga were found in the house.

“The dagga is valued at over R60 000 on the streets.

“Cash amounting to over R5 000 suspected to be the proceeds of dagga dealing was also confiscated.”

The cash confiscated by members of the EMPD.

The arrested pair, aged 29 and 46, were charged at the Primrose Police Station for possession of and dealing in dagga.

They are expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
