Little ones learn all about Down Syndrome

Learners sport mismatched colourful socks as they spread awareness on World Down Syndrome Day.

Tic Toc Nursery School celebrated World Down Syndrome Day, on Wednesday.
Though World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated globally on March 21, the children observed the day on Wednesday as Thursday was a public holiday (Human Rights Day).

Mikhail Deetlefs (3), who attends Tic Toc Nursery School, helped his classmates learn more about Down Syndrome.

To create awareness, learners were encouraged to wear their favourite colourful, fun and mismatched socks to school and were taught more about Down syndrome, including how to be accepting of anyone who is different.
“This is a subject close to my heart, as I have a three-year-old grandson who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome and attends Tic Toc,” said Diane Herbst, the owner and principal of Tic Toc Nursery School.
