Man arrested following alleged Pretoria Road assault

A man was apprehended by the Primrose police on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Primrose police arrested a 26-year-old man last Sunday on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was arrested after the victim of the alleged attack opened a case at the Primrose Police Station.

“The victim told officers he had been in Pretoria Road, Primrose, waiting for a taxi to Germiston when the suspect approached him.

“The man, whom the victim had never seen before, reportedly said ‘I got you’ to the man before he allegedly picked up and nearby brick and hit him on the upper body,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The victim claimed the suspect planned to strike him again, but he was able to escape into a taxi.

“The complainant sustained serious injuries that needed medical attention,” said Maome.

The suspect was traced and arrested.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
